Colonel Walker M. "Bud" Mahurin of Fort Wayne, Indiana is considered by the aces themselves to be one of the best combat pilots America has ever produced. No small part of his success is due to his outstanding ability as an air-to-air shot. He is credited with 19.75 aerial victories in the European Theater Operation (ETO) and one victory in the South West Pacific Area (SWPA). He added 3.5 Mig-15 Jets in Korea, bringing his lifetime score to 24.25 victories in two wars.
